After lunch we headed towards Bryce Canyon. I had planned a 30 mile bike ride for the day, but once I got on the road I was suppose to ride I got all nervous. I was going to go on HWY 89 and pick up HWY 12. HWY 12 was the route Donita was going to ride. HWY 89 around Hatch, UT was so busy because of construction and there was no shoulder to ride, so I told Kelly to keep driving. Once we got on Hwy 12 I still was holding my breath. We got to the Red Canyon visitor Center where there was a paved bike trail. I lost 19 miles of riding today, because I was playing it safe. I still am carrying a lot of fear of riding now since Donita’s accident. It has taken a toll on my mind and I am trying my best to overcome it all. Baby steps, right? I know I am not the one who got hit, but I never really let myself entertained the thought of being hit. Now it’s constantly on my mind. I have to talk myself into riding which was never an issue before. Anyway, the bike path was amazing and SAFE! It winded along a dry riverbed and slightly undulating countryside. 11 miles of safe fun. Short and sweet. I road to Bryce Canyon where Kelly picked me up to go to Rainbow Point for sunset pictures. What a sunset it was!Â
We ended our day with a wonderful hamburger dinner at the Canyon Diner. We then traveled to Tropics got a comfortable bed at American’s Best Value Inn. It was a little pricey or the kind of motel that it was, but it was the cheapest going rate around Bryce. If you haven’t visited Bryce Canyon or Zion before put it on your bucket list. Both National Parks are truly beautiful. You won’t regret it.
