Photography and Travel Adventures: Dare to Dream, Desire to Explore, Discover the Extraordinary

06/12/2016 – Canynonlands and Arches National Parks

Today we want to honor Veteran LCpl Sean Carroll for his service to our country! Sean you are a hero and we thank you for your service and the sacrifice you made for this country. We salute you! Please take a moment and read Sean’s story or watch his video.

We started our day off with a Super 8 breakfast.  It was your average hotel no frills carb food.  The hotel itself was nice and we were going to spend our second night here. However, they didn’t have any rooms available, so we booked tonights stay at the Quality Inn down the road here in Moab.  (Thanks, Aunt Nancy)

What a great day touring Canyonlands and then Arch National Park.  The Green River Overlook in Canyonlands is incredibly beautiful.  You can see the Green River which carved her channels through the sandstone 1300ft down below.  Everywhere you look the views are magnificent!  We drove to Arches NP next and walked around the Double Arches area, and Balancing Rock.  I came here back in 2012 for the first time by myself.  A photographer friend of mine was here shooting the Milky Way over the Double Arches and I knew I had to go there and see this beautiful place with my own eyes. I was so happy to finally show someone in my family this incredible place that I had fallen in love with a few years ago. It held my heart then and still holds my heart now.  We would have liked to have spent more time here, but we needed to get back to Moab and get a few supplies as well clean my bike.  Yesterday had her covered in grit and grim.  I also wanted some time to write in my journal as well as plan the next several days of riding and hotels since we have good internet service.  We treated ourselves to some yummy Mexican food at Fiesta Mexicana on our way back to the hotel.  Highly recommend. (Thanks Debbie Berry!)  Their margaritas were just what we needed.

Tomorrow we head to Colorado.  I really can’t describe the beauty and the grandeur that I have seen in Utah.  I’m dragging my heals leaving this beautiful state, but I know I have to head eastward.  Utah, you have stolen my heart.  I can’t wait to explore more of you in the future.

Enjoy the many photos.  Some are mine, some are Kelly’s.  Thanks again for all who have supported us through your prayers, encouraging texts, and your donations throughout our journey. You’re the best! We appreciate you so much! Thank you also to those who have supported HFOT. Your donations to them help disabled Veteran get a chance at reclaiming some of their personal freedoms in a new home. Many thanks! Night y’all, Be Blessed!
