Today I dedicated my ride to honor SSgt Thomas “Charlie” Linville. Thank you SSgt Linville for your service and sacrifice for our freedom. You are a hero! Read about his climb to Mt Everest just last month. He is truly and inspiration.
At breakfast in the hotel, I literally had an asshole tell me that all cyclist should get a ticket for being on the road because they put HIS life in danger! The nerve of this guy. He says he gets put in danger because he has to pass them in oncoming traffic, going up hills, or around curves. Really? Since when are motor vehicles suppose to pass anything on a double yellow line? Seriously, I wonder if he passes other cars who are driving too slowly in oncoming traffic, uphills, or around curves. Oh but wait, and the best part is he claimed to be a “cyclist”… OH the things I wanted to say but didn’t because I am too nice!
Short ride today. We both are ready to head back to mom and dad’s in Galveston, IN. I found a lake off I-74 to begin my riding. Homer Lake was a nice place for Kelly to hang out for a few hours while I rode. I told her I wanted to ride 2 hours today and come and find me. She was able to get a short walk in and linked up with me 20 miles down the road. It was so beautiful riding through the farmlands. Reminds me of where I grew up in IN. Silo after silo doted the countryside. The corn is much taller than knee high and it isn’t even the 4th of July yet. It was not to hot today at 84°. I will hopefully be back one day to ride across Illinois.
Hope you enjoy the photos below. Most are from Kelly. Thanks again for all who have supported us through your prayers, encouraging texts, and your donations throughout our journey. You’re the best! We appreciate you so much! Thank you also to those who have supported HFOT. Your donations to them help disabled vets, like SSgt Thomas Linville, get a chance at reclaiming some of their personal freedoms in a new home. Many thanks!
My next phase of the trip will be KY, VA, and NC. Still on target to end and be home on July 4th. Will update you when we are back on the road again. Be Blessed
