06/27-07/1/2016 – Omaha, NE for the CWS

Here is a brief summery of the last few days. I always believe that sometimes you just have to rearrange your schedule for important people in your life! I was so happy to be able to be at the CWS finals to watch Andrew Beckwith and his team. I met Derek, my son, and his buddies at the airport on the 27th. We grabbed a quick bit to eat and then headed to the stadium for the first game. We all bought Coastal Carolina shirts and headed in. We got to see Andrew on the sidelines warming up. He came over and chatted with us all and was super happy to see that Derek, Chaz and Chase made it out to watch him and his team play. They lost the game to Arizona. Score was 3-0. Sad.

Tuesday we all went to see Andrew before the game. Once he left to prepare for the game we found a sushi place to eat. Derek and Chase got an enormous plater of sushi that I didn’t think they would be able to eat, but they were able to prove me wrong. The game that night was a TENSE and exciting win for Coastal Carolina. 5-4. Way to go! We went out to eat with the Beckwith’s afterwards and then back to the hotel.

Game 3 was to be played on Wed the 29th however a storm came through and they postponed it for Thursday the 30th midday. Andrew pitched awesome for 5 innings. Inning 6 was a nail biter, and caused us all to hold our breaths. Most of the runs were scored in the 6 inning. long story short Coastal Carolina WON!!! So proud of Andrew! As USA Today says, “Andrew Beckwith (15-1), the national leader in wins, went 5 2/3 innings after pitching two complete games and picked up his third victory of the CWS. He was named the Most Outstanding Player.” So excited for him and his team!

I had to rush the guys to the airport midway through the game, but they got to see him pitch. woohoo. I stated for awhile to congratulate him afterwards and then I headed out for a long drive back to mom and dad’s. I made it back at 5am. Today, July 1, I slept a few hours and then Kelly and I swung by Donita’s place to give her one last hug on our way out. We made it to Georgetown, KY tonight. Eric showed me a few routes around there that he has been wanting to ride so I took them and expanded them eastward. Looking forward to the ride tomorrow. Going to bed early tonight to catch up on sleep from driving all night yesterday.

Night y’all. be blessed!
